The original Signal Culture Cookbook (edited by Tammy McGovern) is a nearly 300 page e-book featuring innovative techniques and creative practices employed by artists working in the field of experimental media art. Nearly 3 years after the original release, we are inviting artists, toolmakers and researchers to submit their unique recipes for the second edition of the Signal Culture Cookbook.
We are interested in proposals that push the boundaries of traditional how-to's, tips and tricks found in most DIY publications. We are seeking innovative and unusual ways people work with video processing, image and sound manipulation, augmented reality, VR, mobile apps, “obsolete” hardware, social hacking or any other conceptual media-informed practice.
Proposals for articles need to include a brief description of your idea (500 words or less), a short bio/CV, 3 supporting images and/or URL of project idea, and your contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org ATTN: Signal Culture Cookbook
Cookbook submissions will be selected by a competitive juried panel. Accepted articles should be no less than 500 words in length but no more than 2500 words and will need to include images that illustrate your idea. We can also include video and sound embedded with your article, when appropriate.
