International Chicago Underground Queer Transcendance Symposium (ICUQTS) is an interdisciplinary festival celebrating creative cultural engagement with local and international queer communities through exhibition of visual & performance art, live music, panel discussions, and workshops in September 2018. This festival and symposium will center the art and culture of underground, queer, trans, gender non-conforming, people of color, femme, and non-binary artists. In addition to highlighting Chicago-based artists, national and international artists are invited to apply for exhibition opportunities that encourage discussion and engagement within the global queer movement. Organized by TRQPITECA, this festival will perform TRQPITECA’s mission on a larger scale: creating space for artists developing queer aesthetics, celebrating life, and uplifting today’s generation of queer artists influencing contemporary culture.

TRQPiTECA is a unique Chicago-based cultural platform that creates space for local and international artists working with queer and tropical aesthetics to experiment, thrive, and celebrate life. Since 2015, resident DJs and co-founders CQQCHIFRUIT (Jacquelyn Carmen Guerrero) and La Spacer (Natalie Murillo) curate this environment through the incorporation of installation art, video art, soundscaping, and performances, with the intention of fostering creative engagement with the diverse communities of which we are a part.
