Concept and Experience
Sarah Rehmer presents this comprehensive workshop designed by R&F Handmade Paints to provide education in fundamental encaustic methods, as well as illustrate best studio practices. Artists from all backgrounds will find this workshop an exciting opportunity to expand their visual vocabulary using wax.
Sarah will begin by presenting the history of the medium, giving context to the myriad of ways artists use encaustic. This workshop will alternate between demonstrations and individual work time. Demonstrations will cover health and safety, selecting proper grounds and supports, basic painting and layering techniques, and transition into more dynamic applications. All paints and raw materials will be supplied by R&F at no additional cost.
Open to beginning and intermediate students.
Sarah Rehmer earned her BA in Graphic Design and Photography from Dominican University in River Forest, IL. Sarah found her love for working with pages from old books and encaustic while attending a class post-graduation at the school. Her work is held in private and public collections around the country and internationally. Sarah teaches classes and workshops around the midwest.
