Do you love theatre and want to spread the word about must-see theatre?

Citadel Theatre in Lake Forest is seeking an Audience Development Coordinator to work with the Managing Director to tap those parties primed to experience award-winning theatre.  Not only will you search out people who are the right profile for attending Citadel’s comedic, cutting-edge, dramatic or musical performances, but you’ll have the opportunity to encourage them to attend an upcoming show, or subscribe as a member and enjoy outstanding productions by Citadel year after year.

You’ll also be using your customer service skills to check in with existing subscribers and help online guests navigate the ticket purchasing system.  In addition, you’ll create and manage digital promotion and website content to help spread the good word about Citadel Theatre.

This is a multi-faceted full-time (20-30 hrs/wk) position (paying up to $15/hr if experienced) where you’ll learn all about the workings of a long-standing theatre company while being its ambassador.

  • Create, manage and deploy targeted email campaigns
  • Write and post on social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)
  • Assist the Managing Director in crafting a strategy for digital marketing
  • Manage website content including: publishing, modifying, and creating new content
  • Write and publish press releases

Sales and Customer Service

  • Handle in-bound and out-bound sales calls
  • Sell subscriptions, group sells, and single tickets  
  • General customer service
  • Update and maintain patron information in Company CRM System

Skills & Qualifications: 

Basic Qualifications

  • Commitment to superior customer service with strong problem-solving skills.  Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to juggle several tasks at the same time.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a small office.
  • Ability to adjust priorities and assignments to meet patron and company needs.
  • Ability to work towards results and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Proactive attitude and initiative
  • Must have reliable transportation


  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience with Squarespace a plus
  • Experience working with a CRM program a plus
  • Basic graphic design experience a plus
