Voice Teacher at Marquee Youth Stage

Marquee Youth Stage is looking for a resident voice teacher/vocal coach. The studio has over 15 students and continues to grow as the theatre grows. As the voice teacher, you will be responsible for teaching excellent/healthy vocal technique to youth ages 5-18. You will be responsible for helping choose repertoire that excites and challenges each student. You will also help students prepare for a multitude of shows and auditions (school musicals, professional equity shows, college auditions, scholarship applications, district and state competitions, etc). Other responsibilities include scheduling, communicating with parents, handling and recording payments, planning a yearly recital, being an excellent support system and mentor, and engaging in the Marquee Youth community as much as your schedule permits. There is a lot of potential for growth in this position, as the director of the program may give you opportunities to music direct, direct, teach camps, and teach classes. Scheduling is up to your schedule and the students. As long as you're consistent and reliable, you can choose which days you would like to teach. A little bit about Marquee Youth Stage: Marquee Youth Stage is a 501(c)3 performing arts organization that has served the Fox Valley area for over six years and has grown exponentially since its start.  It is our mission to broaden the reach and impact of theatre so that students of all abilities, ethnicities, skills and economic backgrounds may benefit, thereby increasing the opportunities for theater in order to ignite creativity, support, enrich and empower youth with the skills and knowledge of how the arts can serve and influence the community at large. Skills & Qualifications: 

- Teach healthy vocal technique that reaches multiple styles ("legit", belt, mix, etc.) - Vast knowledge of classical, musical theatre, pop, R&B, and jazz vocal repertoire - Fluent in piano or at least able to plunk notes and chords, as well as play vocalises - 4+ years of teaching experience - Bachelors degree in voice, music, or theatre - Being early/on time (even when there's traffic and the rain is coming down hard...) - Organizational skills - Consistency and reliability - Administrative skills and tools (vital when scheduling 15+ students weekly) - Love for inspiring and educating - Compassion, empathy, positivity, creativity, and initiative - A sense of humor! - Open communication (with the director of the program, with students, and with parents) - Good with e-mail/text messaging (as this is how you may be communicating with the director and parents) - Reliable transportation (the theatre you will be teaching at is in St. Charles, IL and it is not near a train station
